Strength Pilates

What Is Strength Pilates?

Strength Pilates is reformer Pilates using control under load. Same principles — form and precision — put to work against real resistance. You leave class knowing you've trained.

Most people meet Pilates as something gentle. Breathe, lengthen, align. That version has its place. This isn't it. Strength Pilates keeps the control and adds the thing most Pilates leaves out: progressive load, the kind that actually makes you stronger.

Control under load

The work happens on the Powerformer™ — a reformer rebuilt for strength training. Same carriage, same springs, same platforms you'd recognise from any reformer. It just feels different under you: built heavier, it carries far more load and lets you keep adding to it as you get stronger.

That's the whole point. No plateau — when a movement stops being hard, the load goes up, and there's always more load to reach for.

How it's different from mat and classic reformer

Mat Pilates uses your bodyweight. Classic reformer adds spring resistance and a moving carriage. Strength Pilates on the Powerformer takes that further — heavier load, harder progressions, and a structure built around getting stronger over time rather than holding steady.

If you've done reformer before and found yourself waiting for it to get harder, this is the version that does.

What a class actually involves

You'll load the springs, set your position, and work. Push. Pull. Hinge. Squat. Core. The patterns are the ones your body already knows — the Powerformer loads them properly and asks for control while you do.

Expect to concentrate. Expect your form to be corrected — quietly, and always so the work stays the point. Expect to feel it. What you won't get: a dark room, music loud enough to lose the cues, or a class built to look good on camera. The room stays lit and the volume stays sane because you can't train what you can't see or hear.

Who it's for

Every level. If you've never set foot on a reformer, you start in Foundation and you're fine. We don't shame the spring you choose, the pace you take, or the modification you need. The person on the fence — never sure they're "the type" — is exactly who this is built for.

Strength isn't a body type. It's a thing you build. You start where you are.

The three classes

Three tiers, one progression.

Foundation
Where you start, and where you come back to. You slow down and learn the principles properly.
Elevate
Where the work picks up. More load, less rest, the progressions that follow once the foundations hold.
Power
Where the work intensifies. The class you book in advance.

You move up when the work is ready for it — not on a timetable.

Where to start

The Power Intro

Three classes for £45, grip socks included.

New clients, one per person, at our Hoxton studio in East London. Three classes is enough to feel the difference — one to learn the Powerformer, one to settle, one where it starts to click.

Stronger when you leave. Better when you come back.
